Alaska

Sent by: Linda Gavin (not 100 percent sure I read the signature correctly)

Ahhhh Alaska. Land of dogsledding, a really big state, not many people and one of two states that doesn't actually border another U.S. state. It's also the only state in the board game RISK to be its own territory (Hawaii doesn't even exist in the RISK universe.)

Most of my knowledge about Alaska is just knowing the names of a few cities. I don't know where those cities are in relation to any other, the population of those cities or even the mascots for those cities' high school sports teams.

Much like with Hawaii, my son was astounded that a postcard all the way from Alaska made its way to Georgia. Fortunately, he knows Alaska is next to Canada and not some weird looking place that's next to Mexico like on a lot of the maps/puzzles we have of the states.

Twenty-three states down, 27 to go.

If you'd like to help with our postcard quest, please find me on twitter (@lukermartin) or leave a comment below.
